Embassy of Finland in Ottawa is looking for an assistant with a wide range of duties with contract dates of May 1, 2017 until April 30, 2019 (start date negotiable). Employment contract guidelines for locally hired staff will be in effect for the successful candidate.

Current core responsibilites:
switchboard and greeting visitors and customers
sort and deliver all incoming mail
assistant to officials (including Public Diplomacy and Team Finland)
HST rebate applications
maintaining embassy contact data base and the address register used by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs
other duties as assigned
alternate for the assistant to ambassador and coordinator (Public Diplomacy)
The duties may change with time to adapt to the internal operational needs of the embassy.
Ability to communicate effectively is required, excellent verbal and written English is a must, Finnish and French considered an asset.
Other skills and abilities:
Experience in comparable duties, strong team work and communication skills, resiliency, and computer skills are essential. Previous work experience as assistant, in customer service and in an international work environment is also required. We value initiative, attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. Appropriate training will be provided by the embassy. Day-to-day tasks are geared towards supporting the efficient running of the embassy in various ways.
