Press release 23.10.2018
Finland will outsource the collection of biometric data required for study- or work-based residence permit applications in Canada to Application Centres (AC) maintained by VFS Global. ACs will be opened in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver by the end of November 2018.
The aim is to simplify the submission of work and study-related residence permit applications as well as to offer more comprehensive services for applicants. Application form and payment have to be completed electronically in Enter Finland portal. Biometric data for residence permit applications has to be submitted in person always, and an appointment is mandatory.
The Finnish Immigration Service is the decision-making authority in residence permit matters. The Embassy continues to accept other than work and study-related residence permit applications.
Appointments for the submission of residence permit applications scheduled at the embassy will be handled as agreed. When the ACs are open, the embassy will accept only certain residence permit applications.
A website and a new call centre for residence permit applicants will be launched in November 2018.
